Because of the fact that they can be so destructive to relationships, it’s important to deal with your insecurities as soon as possible. Instead of waiting until you start sacrificing your friendships or your trust, deal with your insecurities before they have a chance to take root.
What insecurities ruin relationships?
There are many insecurities that can ruin relationships. If you and your partner share insecurities, they can trigger one another. This can cause you to withdraw from each other or become more judgmental of each other. This can cause one partner to become resentful, especially if they feel like they’re supposed to “fix” their partner. It can also cause you to seek out other relationships because you feel like you can’t rely on your partner. If the two of you are completely different, this can cause you to feel alone or like you’re in an “wrong” relationship. You may even have thoughts like, “What’s wrong with us? How did we end up in this situation?” You may be so consumed by your insecurities that you forget to enjoy your partner.
Address your insecurities with your partner
Sometimes insecurities can be so disturbing that you simply need someone to talk to. If you’ve noticed a decline in your relationship, it may be a good time to have a one-on-one conversation with your partner. While you don’t want to make your partner feel like they’re responsible for your insecurities, you do want to show them that you trust them enough to talk about them. If your partner has a way of soothing your insecurities, you can tell them that it’s not about them. Keep in mind that partners are not mind readers. Unless you tell them what’s bothering you, they may not understand why you’re so anxious.
